Celebrations with food

What are your celebratory foods? We all have our traditional treats that we look forward to on the holidays but what do you reward yourself with when you accomplish a goal?

I like to go for dinner and have a fruity cocktail when I finish my first draft. Then, after I finish my editing a hot fudge and carmel sundae is on the menu.

I'm pretty excited that my team is in the Super Bowl, but I'm equally excited for all the junk food and cute commercials.

As of today I'm halfway finished with my newest manuscript. That should be grounds for celebration. So, what's a good celebratory food or drink for this accomplishment?

Print or Screen ... What Movies Are You Waiting For?

We are almost an entire month into 2014 can you believe it. When we rang in the New Year statistical information started to flood the net.  For obvious reasons, I was most interested in books that had released in 2013 and when I was looking for that information I found a lot of info about books that have/ or will be turned into movies. I thought maybe we could chat about it. In 2013 some of the biggest hits at the box office start on the shelves of books stores. The Hunger Games, Warm Bodies, Safe Haven all these money making titles came from popular authors. Even some classics came to the big screen last year including, The Great Gatsby and even a remake of Carrie What I’m wondering is which was your favorite? And to make it even more interesting, do you prefer print or screen versions of your favorite stories?

Now that we’ve entered 2014 there are many more print to screen transformations in store for us readers. Here are a few of the top titles: Divergent by: Veronica Roth, The Mortal Instruments by: Cassandra Clare, and Gone Girl by: Gillian Flynn who’s excited?  Personally, I have mixed feelings on watching screen adaptations of the books I love. On the plus side, we get to see beloved characters that one time only danced from the pen to the, page to our imaginations.  On the other, my imagination is different than yours and different than a director etc … so am I going to get to see the particular things about certain books that I love. It’s a gamble but it ends up being a gamble that I take. How about you?

How I chose my favorite football team

I took a break from writing to watch the NFC championship game. My team, the Seattle Seahawks, won and are headed to the Super Bowl. My friends tease me because of the way I became a Seahawks fan and here in Northeast PA the Seahawks fanfare is scarce. Since my husband is an outdoorsman (he's a doer not a watcher), neither of us follow football. Our friends are diehard fans. Well, we certainly didn't want to be alienated so it was time to choose a team. I thought of the various cities I'd like to visit and ALOT if the literary characters I've grown to love are from Seattle. I'm an animal lover so I needed to choose a team with an animal mascot, my favorite color is green, and I love the beach. Viola, I'm a Seahawks fan:) Isn't that how everyone picks their favorite team? What's your favorite NFL team and why?

Print Books vs. ebooks

I've just ordered a plethora of Blissful Tragedy bookmarks and I can't wait to share them with you. Stay tuned for lots of fun online giveaways and head over to a book signing to snag one in person :) I've always been in need of bookmarks because I love to read print books on the beach. There's nothing like the warm ocean breeze blowing through my hair while I dig my feet in the sand and fall into a fantasy world. No way am I taking my e-reader to the beach. The hot sun beating down on my glare-free screen, grains of sand caught in between the surface and the casing, and my tears shorting out the battery as I sob when I realize I now need a new one. The other nine months out of the year when I'm home on my deck or couch, I love the convenience of e-reader. Like magic, the book appears within seconds at the press of a button. What do you prefer, an e-book or an old-fashioned print book?

The toys Santa brings our pets

If you're like me, "Santa" may have left a present or two under the tree for the furry members of your family. Even though my furry babies seem to like the wrapping paper and boxes more than any toy Santa's elves could create, this year my cats found a favorite new toy. My mother bought her grandcats this lovely motion activated cardinal that chirps whenever it detects movement. Of course, the cats bat it around continuously so the humans are entertained all day and all night by the ear-splitting screech. After a few days of jumping out of bed around 3 a.m. after being awoken by the evil abomination, I was ready to lose my mind. It was me or the bird and I was prepared for battle. I tossed it in the trash can in our garage and washed my hands of the malevolent entity. As I watched my cats search for the feathered beast, meowing and checking every nook and corner of the house, guilt overcame me. I sighed, then brought the red bird back into our house. As soon as I dropped it on the floor the cats started batting it around the room and even the dog joined the fun. Well this plastic bird showed me! Apparently the cold garage affected the device which emits the chirping sound. Now Mr. cardinal sounds like a tortured soul screaming from the depths of hell. What toys did Santa bring your pets and are any as wonderful as Mr. cardinal? Lol.

How long does your New Year's Resolution last?

Well, we're now over a week into the new year and I've once again broken my resolution. In all reality I broke it shortly after midnight. Like every other year, I vowed to stay away from junk food and begin a healthy eating and exercise regimen. Right after the ball dropped I slugged down what was left of my champagne and stuffed my face with chocolate chip cheesecake bars (yum). What is it about starting a new year that makes us think we have to change something? Maybe it's the possibility of new opportunities and adventures. My adventure is about to begin. In six short weeks, my dream of becoming a published author will be a reality. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and if you broke your resolutions, no worries. As far as i can tell, there's no time limit for keeping them (especially since mine lasted all of five minutes). 2014 will be filled with fun, particularly on this website. Keep checking back for updates, fun stories, and PRIZES. I can't be the only one who broke their resolution. What's yours and how long did it last?
