Christmas is one of the few times of year that hold iconic images: snow, lights, fireplace, Santa, Gifts etc ... but the images aren't just media implanted commercialization techniques, this time of year they're so much more. They're often times about Tradition. Even if you don't have a lot of traditions in your family, Christmas usually triggers a few. Traditions can be anything from cutting and decorating the Tree to baking a favorite recipe.
A friend of mine's grandmother likes to wrap Christmas gifts in boxes that have nothing to do with the gifts themselves, for example: cereal boxes or putting pajamas in an Oatmeal tube (you get the picture). When she was little one of her cousins was given a piggy bank by their grandma. Grandma insisted on keeping the box that the piggy bank came in. Now, every year she wraps a special gift in the piggy bank box. It has become one of those special things that everyone looks for and becomes excited about.
In my own family we have a few traditions but the most impactful one ... Every year since I can remember my family has come together to make homemade meat Cappelletti We make it to have in sauce for Christmas Dinner. The tradition started with my Grandmother and father and even though they are no longer with us, I taught a few other family members how to make the delicious Italian dish so I can keep the tradition alive.
