Vancouver is said to be the birthplace of one of the very first ugly sweater parties around 2002. At the Commodore Ballroom, where the dress code is, of course, UGLY SWEATERS, holds the official Ugly Christmas Sweater party. The co-founders of this party actually trademarked the phrases "ugly Christmas sweater" and "ugly Christmas sweater party." They raise money to support the Make a Wish Foundation of Canada.
